IWC Schaffhausen Expands Its ‘Le Petit Prince’ Universe

Two new editions bring Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s iconic character to the Portofino for the first time, alongside a striking white ceramic Pilot’s Chronograph 41.

At Watches and Wonders Geneva 2026, IWC Schaffhausen introduces two new Le Petit Prince editions, continuing its most recognisable creative partnership.

This year, author Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s protagonist appears in the Portofino Automatic Day & Night 34 (Ref. IW459806) and the Pilot’s Watch Chronograph 41 (Ref. IW389410), the latter rendered in white ceramic. One brings a more refined, poetic character to the Portofino collection, while the other highlights technical performance within the Pilot’s line.

Both watches feature the deep blue dial long associated with IWC’s Le Petit Prince editions, now reinterpreted through new materials, complications, and design details.

The Portofino Automatic Day & Night 34 Le Petit Prince marks the first time the Portofino line receives this treatment. The 34mm stainless-steel case houses a deep blue sunray dial, accented by gold-plated hands and appliqués — a refined palette that complements the collection’s understated character. At six o’clock, a rotating day-and-night display completes a full cycle every 24 hours, with the Little Prince depicted standing on the moon, gazing into a star-filled sky. It is a subtle but distinctive storytelling element that adds personality without overwhelming the clean Portofino aesthetic.

Power comes from the automatic Calibre 35180, delivering a 50-hour power reserve. The watch is fitted with a hand-coloured blue calfskin strap by Santoni, secured with a butterfly clasp, and equipped with a practical quick-change system. An engraving of the Little Prince on the case back completes the design.

Meanwhile, the Pilot’s Watch Chronograph 41 Le Petit Prince edition is the first to present the icon in a white zirconium oxide ceramic case. Lighter and harder than steel, the material has a smooth, velvety finish. The crisp white case contrasts with a deep blue sunburst dial featuring a subtle gradient. Rhodium-plated hands and Super-LumiNova ensure legibility, while a titanium case back is engraved with the Little Prince icon.

A white rubber strap with IWC’s EasX-change system allows quick adjustments. Inside, the IWC-manufactured 69381 calibre provides a column-wheel chronograph capable of calculating up to 12 hours, with a vertical dial layout designed for clarity. The movement features a 46-hour power reserve.

Whether through the subtle charm of the Portofino or the modern performance of the white ceramic chronograph, IWC’s Le Petit Prince story continues with imagination, craftsmanship, and enduring design.
