More than 50 years since its debut, the TAG Heuer Monaco returns to centre stage at Watches and Wonders 2026 with two distinct launches that reinforce its status as one of watchmaking’s most recognisable icons. The redesigned Monaco Chronograph refines ergonomics and wearability, while the Monaco Evergraph introduces an entirely new mechanical architecture, marking a significant step forward for the Maison.
First introduced in 1969, the Monaco broke conventions as the world’s first square, water-resistant automatic chronograph. Its bold geometry, left-side crown, and avant-garde aesthetic quickly set it apart, attracting creatives and collectors alike. Today, that spirit continues with a sensitive reinterpretation rooted in the original reference 1133.
The new Monaco Chronograph features a redesigned 39mm case in Grade 5 titanium, with gently curved sides and improved balance for enhanced comfort. The sapphire crystal moves closer to a true square, while careful refinements to typography, dial layout, and finishing elevate legibility and depth. The result is unmistakably Monaco — only more refined and wearable.
Powering the watch is the new in-house Calibre TH20-11, offering an 80-hour power reserve and a five-year warranty. The bi-compax layout, with counters at three and nine o’clock and a date window at six, pays homage to the original Calibre 11. At the same time, the left-side crown remains, reinforcing one of the Monaco’s most recognisable signatures.
Three colourways debut:
• Signature Monaco blue, inspired by Steve McQueen’s piece worn in the 1971 film Le Mans
• Sunray-brushed dark green, referencing British racing heritage
• Black two-tone titanium and 18kt 5N rose gold
Each is paired with a racing-inspired strap and titanium folding clasp.
Alongside this evolution, TAG Heuer introduces the Monaco Evergraph — a bold expression of avant-garde horlogerie. At its heart is the new Calibre TH80-00, featuring a compliant chronograph mechanism built with flexible bistable components rather than traditional levers and springs. Developed over five years, this architecture delivers consistent performance, improved durability, and a distinctive tactile experience. Its components were developed by the TAG Heuer LAB, with the movement produced by Vaucher Manufacture Fleurier.
The Evergraph also incorporates a TH-Carbonspring oscillator, a 5Hz frequency, COSC certification, and a 70-hour power reserve, reinforcing its technical ambition. Its 40mm Grade 5 titanium case and transparent dial create a striking architectural presence, while maintaining the Monaco’s signature codes, including the left-side crown.
Two executions are introduced:
• Titanium with blue accents, referencing reference 1133B
• Black DLC-coated titanium with red racing accents
Together, these launches reinforce the Monaco’s reputation for strong design, motorsport heritage, and TAG Heuer’s willingness to do things differently. The watch remains instantly recognisable, now refined for a new generation.
