Pomellato’s New Jewellery Changes With A Flip

Inspired by a button motif from a 1974 necklace, Pomellato’s latest Pom Pom Dot creations celebrate versatility, allowing women to transform their jewellery with a simple flip.

Pomellato has always understood that modern women are many things at once: elegant and playful, bold and understated. The latest additions to its Pom Pom Dot collection embrace this duality with jewels designed to transform as easily as the women who wear them.

Inspired by a button detail from a Pomellato gold necklace created in 1974, the motif has evolved from a functional fastening into a contemporary symbol of connection, protection, and self-expression. Today, it is the focus of a collection that invites wearers to reveal different sides of their personality with a simple gesture.

The concept is beautifully expressed in a new necklace crafted from rose gold, malachite, mother-of-pearl, and white diamonds. One side showcases malachite’s rich green bands, framed by a delicate thread of diamonds, while the reverse reveals the soft luminosity of mother-of-pearl accented with polished rose gold. Along the chain, white rose-cut diamonds add lightness, while varying button sizes create an effortless rhythm and movement.

Part of the attraction of gemstones for me is what they represent. Malachite is linked to harmony and renewal, mother-of-pearl to calm and emotional balance, and diamonds to clarity and quiet strength. Combined, they add another layer of meaning to the collection, which also introduces a gold-and-diamond sautoir and matching bracelet. Different-sized button motifs also create a natural rhythm along the chain, while white rose-cut diamonds add sophistication.

The sautoir is especially versatile, worn long or doubled around the neck for a more contemporary look. Throughout the collection, a signature “gold thread” reinforces the idea of duality, presenting polished rose gold on one side and diamond-set brilliance on the other.

Ultimately, Pom Pom Dot remains true to a simple philosophy: jewellery should spark joy, adapt to life, and celebrate the many stories every woman carries within her.
