Homo Faber 2024: A Celebration of Contemporary Craftsmanship

This September, Venice hosts a global celebration of artistry, curated bythe Michelangelo Foundation for Creativity and Craftsmanship

Homo Faber 2024: The Journey of Life, the third edition of the Homo Faber Biennial, will take place at the historic Fondazione Giorgio Cini on the island of San Giorgio Maggiore in Venice until 30 September 2024. Cartier is the event sponsor. Prepare to be part of a global celebration of craftsmanship at Homo Faber 2024. This event, which celebrates the savoirfaire of international master craftspeople and designers, is designed as a 10stage journey reflecting life’s most important moments. At direction by Luca Guadagnino, film director and founder of studiolucaguadagnino, and architect Nicolò Rosmarini.

The Cartier exhibition is in San Giorgio Maggiore’s former printing works. Live demonstrations by a sculptor and jeweller will show how they give life to a tiger and panther through sculptural volumes, fine lines, flexibility, articulation, and coloured diamond details. In addition, 21 pieces from the Cartier Collection on display will illustrate the maison’s creative history inspired by nature.

Meanwhile, Homo Faber in Città invites visitors to enjoy an immersive experience across Venice. With a diverse range of more than 70 workshops, from lamp and puppet makers to gondola builders and glass blowers, you will surely find something that appeals to your creative senses. This citywide journey showcases local artisans’ creative universes, incorporating their tools, materials and skills.
