Zenith just unveiled a box of rainbow-coloured El Primeros

By Debbie Hathway

Emotion is a big thing at Zenith, a Swiss watchmaking brand that thrives on positive energy, enthusiasm, and inspiration. In fact, Zenith CEO Julien Tornare often talks about the colours of happiness and joy, particularly in the brand’s Defy collection now enhanced with a limited-edition box set of eight timepieces in different colours.

While colour psychology is a new research area for scientists wanting to analyse its effect on the mind and body, Pablo Picasso was clear. He said: “Colours, like features, follow the changes of the emotions.” Zenith’s new Defy 21 Ultra Colour box set perfectly exemplifies the brand ethos. Its transparent acrylic presentation case has a crystalline allure, producing an iridescence that refracts light to enhance the colours even more.

The spectrum of colour is designed to suit every mood with the Defy 21 presented in lightweight titanium with monochromatically finished 1/100th of a second El Primero chronograph movements in black, blue, violet, orange, pink, green, turquoise and khaki. You can see the raised chronograph counters on the open dial, grey like the case, to contrast with the vibrant metallic colours of the movement and matching Cordura-effect rubber straps.

What will the colours say about you? Experts say that black is seen as powerful and sexy; blue indicates dependability and trustworthiness; violet represents harmony and orange emanates warmth, kindness and joy. Pink indicates softness and reserve; green evokes freshness and nature; turquoise represents emotional stability and peace while khaki conveys relaxation and calm.

The watches are numbered one to eight in each box, and only eight sets are available exclusively from Zenith physical and online boutiques worldwide.
