Since World War II, Omega has earned acclaim among pilots for its precision and reliability. The Swiss brand’s watches have been trusted companions in aviation history, from equipping the British RAF during the war to supporting US Air Force pilots in the 1950s and Concorde crews in the 1960s.
This year, Omega elevates its legacy with the Speedmaster Pilot, a 40.85mm timepiece inspired by the first Speedmaster from 1957 – a favourite among US Air Force pilots for its robust and easy-to-read design.
The new watch’s stainless-steel case has a matte finish to reduce reflections, while the bezel retains Speedmaster heritage markings, such as the “Dot Over Ninety” on the tachymeter scale. Its grained matte-black dial offers exceptional legibility, featuring hour markers and hands coated with white Super-LumiNova (green emission) for low-light visibility. Tipped with a varnished orange aeroplane design, the central chronograph hand enhances its aviation aesthetic.
Two opaline subdials add functional flair: a burn-rate-inspired 60-minute and 12-hour recorder at 3 o’clock, with a varnished matte-orange hand, and a Small Seconds display at 9 o’clock featuring a blue artificial horizon and varnished matte-yellow hand reminiscent of cockpit instrumentation.
At its heart is Omega’s Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 9900, METAS-certified for accuracy and magnetic resistance. The caseback, stamped with the Speedmaster’s Seahorse medallion, is engraved, confirming 100m water resistance.
Wearers can switch between the stainless-steel bracelet with a patented comfort-release adjustment system or the grey NATO strap provided that is reinforced with Kevlar threads. A travel pouch accompanies the piece.
The Speedmaster Pilot celebrates Omega’s unparalleled contribution to aviation timekeeping. It blends precision engineering with aviation-inspired design for modern explorers of Earth and beyond. The watch has an international five-year warranty.
