Earlier this year, Louis Vuitton unveiled the Escale Cabinet of Wonders, a trilogy of artisanal timepieces that are a True testament to the brand’s heritage and innovation. Celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Escale, the Maison introduces new time-only, three-hand models – two in rose gold with textured dials inspired by the Louis Vuitton Monogram canvas and two in platinum with meteorite and onyx dials, enhanced by baguette-cut diamonds and white-gold hands.
The dome-shaped dial crystal and sapphire caseback reveal the calibre LFT023 movement, designed with modern aesthetics and references to Louis Vuitton’s heritage. The movement is chronometer-certified and maintains a 50-hour power reserve.
The Louis Vuitton Escale pays homage to the brand’s iconic trunk design, with echoes of it in the lugs and dial markers. This connection to the Maison’s famous creations creates a sense of tradition and continuity, making the Escale a timeless addition to any collection. The detailed dial features angled and riveted markers and gold studs to evoke the nails of the lozine that runs along the trunk’s exterior.
Reflecting the art of travel, a core philosophy of Louis Vuitton, each element, from the octagonal crown to the alternating finishes applied by hand, is crafted with precision and intent. The 39mm case balances versatility and ideal proportions. The second hand is crafted from titanium, a more energy-efficient solution than gold. The reworked hands of the Escale are shaped like finely tapered needles, referencing the intricate nature of the craft practised in the Maison’s specialised ateliers and the rigour and discipline of their master artisans.
The rose-gold model with a silvery dial is paired with a calf-leather strap inspired by Louis Vuitton’s expertise in leather goods. Drawing from the Nomade leather introduced in 1999, the strap will develop a beautiful patina over time while maintaining comfort and durability. Fine yellow stitching, reminiscent of classic Louis Vuitton leather goods, showcases the craftsmanship and detail that defines the Maison’s creations. In the platinum models, lapidary work and gem-setting elevate the collection with rare materials and techniques.
Each new Escale timepiece features an engraved serial number on a slim gold cartouche riveted to the transparent case back, reminiscent of the serial number plates on Louis Vuitton trunks. When worn, the engraving rests against the wrist, creating a sensory link between the wearer and Louis Vuitton’s artisanal heritage.
Below the 12 o’clock marker, beneath the Maison’s logo, lies a single word that epitomises the Escale’s creative rebirth: Paris. This word not only represents the physical location of the Maison but also its rich heritage, renowned workshops, and the ultimate repository of Louis Vuitton’s craftsmanship.
This new Escale collection not only embodies Louis Vuitton’s commitment to craftsmanship and innovation but also the timeless allure of the art of travel. Each piece is a testament to the Maison’s dedication to creating high-quality, innovative products that stand the test of time.
