BLUE DIALS ADD SOME SUMMER SHINE TO THESE MODERN CLASSIC WATCHES

By Sony Thomas

From serene deep sea shades of blue to brilliant sky-inspired lighter blue tones, watches sporting azure hues add a refreshing touch to wrists this summer. Here are some new classics just perfect for a summer wrist.

Zenith Ice Blue DEFY Skyline Boutique Edition

Zenith has unveiled the boutique-exclusive Defy Skyline watch for the hot weather season, featuring cool ice blue dials—a hero colour for the brand. The refreshing dial design draws inspiration from starry night skies. The 36mm and 36mm diamond-set bezel versions, along with the 41mm model, stay true to their regular counterparts, featuring an octagonal steel case, a faceted bezel, and a captivating sunburst-patterned dial. The date displays match the blue tone seamlessly. The 36mm models use the Elite 670 movement, while the 41mm features the El Primero 3620 calibre with a 1/10th of a second sub-dial. All watches come with stainless steel bracelets and Ice Blue rubber straps. These watches are available exclusively through Zenith boutiques.

Hublot Big Bang Unico Sky Blue

Hublot’s Big Bang Unico Sky Blue special edition chronograph features a 42mm case made from light blue ceramic and is water resistant up to 100 metres. Driven by the HUB1280 calibre, the watch’s skeletonised dial showcases the intricate column wheel and other sophisticated elements, including the date wheel. With a self-winding chronograph movement, the timepiece boasts an impressive 72-hour power reserve. The watch face exhibits a classic design with alternating Arabic numerals and hour markers coated with Superluminova for clear legibility in low-light conditions. Encircling the dial is the signature light blue ceramic bezel, adorned with the iconic six Hublot screws. Limited to just 200 pieces, this summer edition comes with two straps: a Velcro strap with a sports fastener and a lined natural rubber strap fitted with a titanium buckle.

Omega Aqua Terra Worldtimer ‘Summer Blue’

The Aqua Terra Worldtimer, a recent addition to the Omega Seamaster collection, was introduced in 2017, featuring a captivating laser-engraved earth on a titanium plate at the centre of the dial. The Summer Blue edition, part of the 75th-anniversary ‘Summer Blue’ range, displays the earth in an enchanting shade of light blue. The dial includes a day and night indicator on a recessed ring covered with hesalite crystal, sailboat indexes, and the names of 24 cities encircling the earth. The watch’s dial features curved vertical lines, symbolising longitude lines, creating an elegant visual element. Positioned at six o’clock, a barrel-shaped date window adds functionality without compromising the design. Encased within the 43mm case is the co-axial master-chronometer certified calibre 8938, ensuring precise and reliable timekeeping. With a water resistance of 150 metres, this timepiece is ready to accompany you on all your aquatic adventures. It can be paired with a stainless-steel bracelet or a matching light blue rubber strap.
