Swiss luxury watch brand Omega is synonymous with style, precision and the fine art of watchmaking. Steeped in the tradition and heritage of producing some of the world’s leading timepieces, the Biel-based house brought its mastery to select friends of the brand during a private dinner at upmarket eatery, Bottega Café in Parkhurst. This was also the first of YourLuxury Africa’s signature YLA Lounge experiences that will form part of the brand’s immersive offerings going into 2023.
Announcing the arrival of the Omega Speedmaster ’57 on South African shores, Omega’s global sales and marketing manager, Antoine Schott said the reimagining of the Speedmaster ’57 had taken the vintage spirit to a whole new level. Schott personally accompanied the new watch collection from Biel to South Africa for their unveiling at the event.
The Omega Speedmaster ’57 was initially launched in 2013 – inspired by the first, revolutionary Speedmaster of 1957. The new Speedmaster ‘57 returns with a Master Chronometer upgrade and a slimmer profile, with the new 40.5mm collection consisting of eight stainless steel models with touches of the much-loved iconic details and bold new colours.
Guests at the YourLuxury Africa and Omega event were treated to a special tasting of luxury single malt Scotch whisky from The Macallan’s portfolio – where The Macallan collection was paired with a unique four-course meal. The Macallan ambassador Thami Banda kept guests entertained with his interactive tasting style that had everyone literally rubbing their hands in delight as they unpacked the elixir by smelling the whisky notes on their palms. With a firm commitment to quality and also having mastered the craft of producing some of the finest whiskies in the world, The Mallacan collaboration with Omega made for an exquisite partnership between two of the world’s leading luxury brands.
After dinner prepared by Bottega’s owner Saverio Cardillo and his team, guests who included some of South Africa’s top watch retailers and collectors, mingled late into the night in the beautifully curated space (courtesy of Vicky Crease Events) with leading Cape Town DJ, Dino Moran, on the decks.
