From May to October this year, Printemps Haussmann’s 7ème Ciel (Seventh Floor) rooftop lounge is the place to be for guilt-free gourmet snacks, healthy lunches with a bit of midday fizz, colourful cocktails, curated playlists and DJ sets – accompanied by unbeatable views over the French capital and the Eiffel Tower.
The collaboration between Printemps, the iconic fashion destination, and Messika, the couture jewellery Maison, is underpinned by a more than 10-year working relationship and marks founder and artistic director Valérie Messika’s first foray into the art of living.
Valérie says she fell in love with the open-air space as soon as she saw it. “When Printemps offered me such an exceptional setting, I was immediately inspired. I’m very drawn to unobstructed views, and I love open spaces. For me, light is equivalent to a diamond; it’s the reflection of that energy. It’s a part of who I am, so I couldn’t refuse,” she says.
Valérie has designed the setting to create an atmosphere that reflects who she is, as though she welcomed the guests into her own home. The summer café is an opportunity to express herself a little more, beyond her role as the director of a jewellery Maison.
Café Messika echoes the Maison’s 2023 aesthetic with red, blue and purple tones punctuating the space, from cushions and cocktails to menus and mugs. It is a nod to the Move collection, playing with shards of gold, arches, fine marble and polished mirrors, neon lights in motion, and a central bar with curved lines.
Valérie’s friend, the famed Chef Juan Arbelaez, will craft a menu that contrasts flavour and texture, hot and cold, sweet and salty. “We really want to awaken the senses: sight, sound, and taste, with a guilt-free gourmet menu that brings together healthy, delicious products for an even more pleasurable experience. It was really important for me to create not only an aesthetic setting, but also a place to discover fine flavours.”
