This summer, BUDISM COUTURE unveils a captivating new women’s high heels collection, marking a new chapter in the Cape Town-based luxury brand’s evolution. Founded by Budi Adji and Philipp Althof in Hong Kong in 2014, it now has a global clientele and loyal followers across Asia, Europe, and the Middle East. For more than a decade, Budi has been creating exquisite couture gowns, and the shoe collection expands his creative reach into the world of footwear – a long-held dream realised. “I’ve always wanted to make shoes, they’re so beautiful and graceful,” he says.
Known for its exquisitely hand-embroidered gowns and custom-made couture, BUDISM COUTURE’s new collection of high heels is an exciting extension of its fashion legacy. The range features a stunning array of sandals, pumps, and platforms, all crafted in Italy. Each pair showcases the signature “BC” logo in hand-brushed champagne metal, signifying the brand’s commitment to quality and sophistication.

Raised in Indonesia and influenced by his multicultural experiences in countries like Singapore, the UK, Switzerland, South Africa, Hong Kong, and China, Budi’s designs are infused with a global perspective, as well as his obsession with the art of couture. His fascination with fine handmade pieces began in childhood, honing skills in needlecraft and knitting before embarking on a successful career in fashion. This keen eye for detail has earned him recognition from prestigious organisations, and his work with BUDISM COUTURE now reflects a harmonious blend of traditional craftsmanship and modern luxury.
The new collection reflects his signature approach, combining artistry with functionality. “High heels are wearable architecture,” says Philipp, Budi’s partner, highlighting the design process behind each pair. The two-year journey involved rigorous research, client trials, and collaboration with Italian artisans. “Creating high heels is incredibly complex,” Budi explains, noting that each pair includes up to 70 components, with even the smallest change impacting the fit and comfort. For Budi, the collection is also a tribute to his sister, an avid high-heel enthusiast whose collection once inspired him.
BUDISM COUTURE’s new heels cater to the fashion-forward South African woman. “This launch invites every woman to embrace the grace, strength, and allure that high heels bring,” he says. With prices starting at R12 880, each pair of shoes is more than a stylish accessory – they’re a statement of opulence and craftsmanship.
