The Gentlemen’s Winter Brunch is the brainchild of Amanda Dambuza — author, mentor, as well as former winner and current jury member for the Veuve Clicquot Bold Woman Award — who continues to create spaces that are brave, intentional and deeply human.
As media partner, YourLuxury Africa was proud to host two readers who won tickets to this landmark event. From the outset, it was clear this wasn’t just another brunch. It was a sacred space where men showed up fully — with their stories, scars, triumphs and truth.
Guests were treated to fine dining at Signature restaurant and Vivier Cap Classique bubbles from Terre Paisible. We also hosted some of our top clients and friends of the brand.
Under the masterful guidance of MC Clement Manyathela, the day unfolded with powerful conversations led by Professor Kopano Ratele, Dr Mzamo Masito, Muzi Mthabela, Theo Ngobeni, Simphiwe Phakathi, Mayur Miles Bhana and Reverend Kabelo Motlhakane, who delivered the closing prayer. Each speaker brought insight, vulnerability and wisdom — a reminder that healing starts when we speak honestly and listen deeply.
The event was a sacred space where men spoke openly about deeply intimate experiences and lived pain, sharing childhood traumas and the lessons they learned from them. It allowed for profound vulnerability and connection among the participants.
Because the response was so overwhelming, @vastlysage_amandadambuza is bringing it back by popular demand this October — in honour of Mental Health Awareness Month in South Africa.
