- Two-time Formula One world champion Fernando Alonso’s remarkable 2002 Ferrari Enzo has been auctioned for €5,400,000 during the highly anticipated L’AstaRossa auction facilitated by Monaco Car Auctions in collaboration with Top Marques.
- Directly from the champion driver’s private collection, this Enzo is widely recognised as the epitome of early hypercars. With its striking design, legendary performance, and captivating engine sound, it combined extreme performance and elegance.
- Following the footsteps of esteemed predecessors like the Ferrari 288 GTO, F40, and F50, the Enzo incorporated a carbon fibre and Nomex honeycomb monocoque chassis, along with an innovative six-litre V12 engine, capable of hitting an impressive 7,800rpm redline. Even today, over two decades since its debut, the Enzo’s acceleration of 0-100kph in just 3.1 seconds and a top speed exceeding 350kph still rival many contemporary performance cars.
- Apart from its illustrious ownership history, Alonso’s former Enzo holds additional significance as the original body, denoted as ‘Scocca n.1,’ is confirmed by the car’s Ferrari Classiche red book. With a mere 4,800km on the odometer, the car has undergone a comprehensive overhaul commissioned by its previous owner, ensuring its impeccable condition.
- Both in-person and online attendees of the auction were treated to an exclusive video message from the Formula One star himself, extending his congratulations to the prospective new owner for their extraordinary acquisition. “The car means a lot to me, and I’ve had an incredible experience with it – it’s a masterpiece. I trust that it will be cherished by its new owner… please take care of the car and enjoy it,” he said.
