A jeweller once handed me a note describing the quiet wisdom of pearls. “Ruled by the moon and water, pearls connect you to natural cycles, calm your inner critic, and bring truth and loyalty.” I don’t know who wrote those words, but they stayed with me.
Surrounded by pearls at the Yoko London booth at Haute Jewels Geneva, I felt exactly that – stillness, softness, clarity. Among the many new designs, the pistachio pearl pieces stood out immediately. Unusual in tone and origin, they’re sourced from Tahiti, and according to CEO Michael Hakimian, no one else is working with pearls in this colour. “Nobody has seen it before, and we always try to be creative and innovative with what we do,” he said. That pursuit of originality has defined the brand for over five decades.
This year’s showcase was a testament to that. New high jewellery additions included sculptural chokers from the expressive O by Yoko range and refined necklaces designed for layering – pieces that highlight the modern versatility of pearls. Standouts from the Zyyp Collection proved particularly memorable. Built around a functional zip detail, the pieces allow the wearer to interchange pearl pendants with diamonds (or similar) – an inventive marriage of form and function.
Yoko London also introduced Yoko Privé, a tightly curated selection of its rarest creations. Crafted in-house and designed for connoisseurs, the collection presents pearls of remarkable size, hue, and lustre. From sourcing to setting, each piece embodies restraint, elegance, and reverence for the natural world.
After 52 years, Yoko London continues to redefine what pearl jewellery can be – expansive in vision, meticulous in execution, and grounded in beauty.
As the brand marks over half a century of redefining pearl jewellery, it continues to expand the language of this timeless gem, blending heritage and originality with quiet authority.
