IWC Goes Purple for the Singapore Grand Prix

The Swiss watchmaker marks Formula One’s return to Singapore with a 41mm titanium chronograph featuring a deep purple dial inspired by the city’s national flower.

When Formula 1 returns to Singapore from 9 to 11 October 2026, the Marina Bay Street Circuit will again provide one of the championship’s most dramatic settings. This year brings another first: Singapore’s inaugural F1 Sprint, ahead of Sunday night’s 62-lap Grand Prix.

IWC Schaffhausen is marking the occasion with the Pilot’s Watch Chronograph 41 Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One Team, Ref. IW388121, the fourth official team watch produced during its long-running partnership with Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS.

The immediate talking point is colour. For the first time in IWC’s Pilot’s collection, a deep purple dial takes centre stage, inspired by Singapore’s national flower, the Vanda Miss Joaquim orchid. PETRONAS green numerals, indices, and luminescent hands provide a vivid contrast, while a matching purple rubber strap completes the look.

Underneath, the emphasis remains firmly on engineering. The 41mm case is made from Grade 5 titanium alloy, valued in Formula 1 for its strength-to-weight ratio, heat resistance, and low mass. IWC points to its use in components ranging from connecting rods and valves to the titanium Halo protecting drivers in the cockpit.

The IWC-manufactured 69385 automatic chronograph calibre uses a classic column-wheel construction, with stop minutes at 12 o’clock, day and date at three o’clock, and a 46-hour power reserve. The movement is visible through the sapphire caseback. It is rated to 10 bar (100 metres) of water resistance.

It is unmistakably a team watch, but the Singapore edition is designed to stand out long after the floodlights at Marina Bay have gone dark.
