Basel is set to re-enter the international watch and jewellery spotlight with the launch of Basilia Jewellery & Watch Fair, a new event created by Informa Markets and MCH Group.
Taking place in Hall 2 of Messe Basel from 8 to 11 April 2027, the inaugural fair will host more than 400 exhibitors spanning high jewellery, independent watchmaking, boutique brands, gemstones, and specialist craftsmanship.
The timing places Basilia firmly within Switzerland’s important spring watch and jewellery calendar, adding another reason for collectors, retailers, and industry insiders to travel to the country in April.
The debut edition will be themed City Under Construction, built around a series of immersive neighbourhoods and districts rather than a conventional trade-show floor. The format is intended to encourage discovery, with established names appearing alongside smaller independents and emerging brands.
Visitors can expect a broad mix, from aspirational luxury and high jewellery to diamonds, coloured gemstones, and pearls, as well as new jewellery technologies and specialist suppliers.
Roman Imgrüth, CEO Exhibitions & Events at MCH Group, says the fair will complement Basel’s existing ecosystem while creating a marketplace open to the wider industry.
For jewellery and watch enthusiasts, however, its appeal lies equally in the prospect of seeing fresh design, craftsmanship and lesser-known makers gathered in one place.
Basilia intends to put Basel back at the heart of the conversation around contemporary jewellery and watchmaking, while giving a new generation of brands and creators their own platform.
