The five all-new luxury Winery Suites, recently converted from the former Wine Cellar where La Petite Ferme’s wines were crafted from the 1990s through to 2016, are aptly named after five of La Petite Ferme’s wine labels and link visually to them: The Viognier and Baboon Rock Suites after the white wine varietals, while The Verdict, The Variation and The ZA Suites, are a nod to the red varietals.
La Petite Ferme has cultivated a solid reputation as one of the finest producers of Viognier – the rich, aromatic white wine grape mainly grown in France’s Rhône area – hence the recognition. Baboon Rock came about due to the baboons that visit the estate in search of fruit. The Bordeaux-style The Verdict is a tribute to lawyer, politician and judge, the Honourable Chief Justice JR Dendy Young who was respected for his integrity and high moral principles, while The Variation is a Rhone-style blend that acknowledges the variety of factors and creativity that went into crafting this blend, and also a reference to the variety in culture that La Petite Ferme’s Swiss Lebanese owner brings to the estate. The ZA is a registered label, of which a limited quantity is produced each year by winemaker Wikus Pretorius.
While the Suites are modern and airy, the heritage has not been forgotten, with the serene spaces still reflecting the Cape Vernacular style. In addition to the Winery Suites, there are five Manor House Suites with a shared pool and five luxury Vineyard Suites, each with a private plunge pool. There is an award-winning restaurant on-site, the option to taste and enjoy the hand-crafted wines, a mobile Beauty Spa that enables a pamper session in the privacy of your room and bike excursions.
La Petite Ferme has garnered multiple awards of late. It was honoured in four categories at the 2023 Haute Grandeur Global Hotel Awards: Best Scenic Environment Hotel; Best Country Hotel in Africa; Best Culinary Experience in Africa; and Best Small Hotel in Africa; while it scooped up three accolades at the 17th annual World Luxury Hotel Awards 2023: Best Luxury Boutique Hotel in South Africa, Best Luxury Boutique Hotel Restaurant in Africa and Best Panoramic Views in Africa.
