MINE/SHIFT: EARTH TO ART—Where Innovation and Luxury Converged

Set against the striking backdrop of Zeitz MOCAA and Cape Town’s majestic Table Mountain, MINE/SHIFT: EARTH TO ART was an evening where Africa’s most influential minds gathered to celebrate Africa’s journey of beneficiation. Held ahead of the Mining Indaba, the event explored how the continent’s rich resources are transformed into works of art, design, and craftsmanship.

The event featured insights from Grant Crosse, Managing Director of MetCon, alongside thought leaders shaping the future of African luxury. Catherine Constantinides, who served as the master of ceremonies, brought her passion for sustainability and African innovation to the forefront.  Guests engaged in discussions on industralisation and innovation while experiencing a curated showcase of talent, supported by MetCon, Your Luxury Africa, StoneX, Brinks, Anglo American, De Beers Group, and more.

Beyond the discussions, the evening was a sensory experience. Signature drinks crafted by The Balvenie, The Botanist, Louis XIII, Rémy Martin, and Terre Paisible set the mood, complemented by a menu inspired by African flavours. The evening came alive with vibrant music, leading into a collaborative fashion show featuring exquisite jewellery pieces and specially  designed garments by Maxhosa Africa, Sindiso Khumalo, Viviers, Kat van Duinen, Mantsho, and other top creators.  

Showcasing the beneficiation journey StoneX and MetCon displayed their wealth collection complemented by an extraordinary jewellery showcase from designers like Janine Binneman, Vijay Shah, Uwe Koetter, Beaudell ,Jewellery Art by Simon, ANPA, Hombisa and Platandia.

MINE/SHIFT: EARTH TO ART was a testament to the continent’s ability to redefine luxury through creativity and innovation.
