Nomonde White-Ndlovu: Leading with Growth and Grace

The CIO of Bidvest Bank reflects on courage, community, and the power of stillness - lessons that continue to shape her leadership journey.

As a technology expert and CIO of Bidvest Bank, Nomonde White-Ndlovu prioritises and invests in learning — both formally and through reflection. She intentionally seeks out spaces that stretch her, believing that growth is rooted in curiosity and humility, even when experience makes it tempting to settle. One of the panellists at the 2025 Vastly Sage Uplifting Brunch, she’ll share reflections to inspire and empower guests.

In this conversation with YourLuxury Africa, she reflects on the lessons, inspirations, and daily rituals that continue to shape her journey as a leader and lifelong learner.

YLA: Who or what do you find most uplifting?
Nomonde:
I find people who live with courage and integrity deeply uplifting, those who choose their light even when the world gives them reason to dim it. Professionally, I am uplifted by women who rise and then reach back to pull others forward; that spirit of collective elevation continues to fuel me.

YLA: What’s an important lesson you’ve learnt in the past year?
Nomonde:
That stillness is not stagnation; it is, in fact, critical for my wellbeing. This year taught me the power of pausing, of allowing clarity and healing to precede motion. I’ve learnt that rest is not a reward; it’s part of resilience.

YLA: How are you best showing up these days?
Nomonde:
In this season, I am fully in my “suit girl” era. Collaborating with Celeste McTurk, the incredible founder and designer of Suited for Her, has been one of my favourite investments in redefining my corporate style. I’m also a firm believer that scent is a silent signature. I love layering fragrances because, as someone once said, “Smelling good is a sign of good manners,” — and they were absolutely right.

YLA: Who has been a major contributor to your career success?
Nomonde:
Without question, the God of Heaven who calls me His own. I am also deeply grateful for the many incredible men and women who believed in me long before I believed in myself. My career success has been built on community: mentors who challenged me, teams who trusted me, and loved ones who reminded me that in everything I do, whether in leadership or in life, it must always be anchored in humanity.

YLA: What’s your current favourite luxury or indulgence?
Nomonde:
Quiet mornings without urgency. Lately, luxury has become synonymous with peace for me — choosing experiences that fill my spirit, whether through travel, time in nature, or moments with my beautiful children and the people I love.

The 6th annual Vastly Sage Uplifting Brunch takes place on 22 November 2025. Tickets for 2025 are however sold out. To secure attendance for next year, purchase your 2026 tickets and book out the date in your calendar!
