Montblanc marked 100 years of leather craftsmanship during New York Fashion Week with an immersive event at the city’s Crane Club, transforming the Art Deco venue into a playful extension of its creative world. Guests including Paul Anthony Kelly, Jamie Campbell Bower, Alexandra Daddario, and brand ambassadors Rupert Friend, Seo Kangjun, Kerem Bürsin, and Alfonso Herrera entered a multi-sensory journey set to a soundtrack by Grammy winner Honey Dijon.
The centrepiece was an oversized installation of the Writing Traveler briefcase – a hero design inspired by the classic “cabinet of curiosities”. Part portable desk, part luxury accessory, it combines dedicated compartments for writing instruments, notebooks, small leather goods, and a watch, reflecting the house’s enduring philosophy of functional elegance for lives in motion.
At the heart of the evening, guests personalised small leather goods at the Montblanc Desk, conceived by Artistic Director Marco Tomasetta, while a postcard station invited them to leave handwritten notes as keepsakes of the night.
The milestone traces back to 1926, when Montblanc first ventured into leather, responding to an era of growing global mobility. As fountain pens left stationary desks for the pockets of travellers crossing continents, the maison introduced protective pen pouches – the germ of a category that would grow to embody its signature blend of utility and refinement.
Since joining in 2021, Tomasetta has strengthened the connection between Montblanc’s writing heritage and leather design, ensuring that century-old principles of sophisticated functionality remain vital. The maison’s commitment to accompanying creators on their journeys, whether across oceans or from page to page, feels as relevant today as it did a hundred years ago.
