A WATCH CRAFTED FOR TOMORROW’S MILESTONES

By Debbie Hathway

To celebrate its 20th anniversary, Tissot has released a new Le Locle watch steeped in history and named after the town of watchmaking legend.

Home to the Swiss watchmaking industry in Neuchâtel since the late 17th century, Le Locle’s urban planning and watchmaking heritage is protected by UNESCO. Tissot’s workshop was later established in 1853, initially on the lower floors of the family home in Crêt-Vaillant.

The Tissot Le Locle collection was launched 150 years later, in 2003, dedicated to the town where the company was founded and adhering to tradition by displaying its name in italics on the dial. The dial design was inspired by the clean lines of the town emblem – the church belfry. In 2023, the Le Locle 20th Edition melds tradition with modernity, taking inspiration from the Le Locle Church clock face for its meticulously crafted cases and dials. One option features Roman blue indices and leaf blue hands gracing the silver dial and adorned with a Clous de Paris pattern, while another adds a scintillating touch to the ladies model with eight twinkling diamonds.

THE TISSOT LE LOCLE REIMAGINED

Each meticulously created Swiss timepiece represents a harmonious blend of tradition and cutting-edge innovation. Despite its affordable pricing, the Tissot watch is a timeless legacy. The brand’s ethos extends beyond watchmaking and timekeeping, becoming a companion on every individual’s journey and commemorating the milestones.

The Tissot Le Locle 20th Edition is encased in 316L stainless steel. A scratch-resistant sapphire crystal guards its inner artistry while enabling a glimpse of the Swiss movement via a transparent caseback. The 39mm model for men contains the Powermatic 80 movement, while the 29mm ladies version is powered by the Powermatic 48, with power reserves commensurate with those numbers. They are water resistant to 30 metres.

There are two bracelets – one in stainless steel that fastens comfortably with a butterfly clasp and push-buttons, and a leather alternative for versatility. Style your favourite accessory to suit your mood, personality and occasion. The Le Locle 20th Edition is a constant reminder of history, heritage, craftsmanship, and passion emanating from its namesake town and the heart of the watchmakers at Tissot.

Developed through age-old tradition, well-honed watchmaking skills, tomorrow’s foresight, and a spirit of innovation, this timepiece is designed to traverse the ages with a style that stands resilient in the face of future milestones.
