Bode is set for a compelling showcase at Berlin’s House of Galleries this week, spotlighting two distinct South African artistic voices. From 22 to 25 January, the label will present a solo exhibition by Johannesburg-based artist Kay-Leigh Fisher.
Kay-Leigh’s work examines how personal attachments to everyday objects shape broader societal ideas around race and gender. Her practice explores the nuances of identity and the conscious “unlearning” of inherited perspectives.
In a separate presentation, Bode will introduce new works by Cape Town-based artist Mongezi Ncaphayi. His richly layered abstract pieces map the subconscious, drawing deeply on his background as a jazz saxophonist and lived experience. Mongezi’s art conveys a strong sense of movement, translating internal rhythm and emotion into a distinctive visual language.
