Lotus is a name synonymous with sports car excellence and racing heritage. So, when the British brand steps into the electric era, a focus on performance and driver experience is a given. Expectedly, with the introduction of the Emeya, a four-door hyper-GT, Lotus is pushing the boundaries for how a luxury electric vehicle should look and handle. At the heart of the Emeya’s top specification model is a high-power dual motor setup, capable of reaching a top speed of over 250 km/h and achieving 0-100 km/h acceleration in under 2.8 seconds. This places it among the fastest electric GTs in the world, promising an exhilarating driving experience.
Emeya’s performance is complemented by Lotus’ efficient charging capabilities. It can add up to 150 km of range in approximately five minutes using a 350 kW DC fast charger, and it can boost the range up to 80 per cent within 18 minutes.
The Emeya marks a significant departure from Lotus’ conventional sports cars. It merges 75 years of engineering and design expertise with modern innovations to deliver an electric car that promises an exciting and exceptional driving experience. One standout feature is the advanced and active aerodynamic elements, including the active front grille, rear diffuser, and rear spoiler. Combined with a low centre of gravity referred to as ‘hyperstance,’ these features enhance stability while driving, setting a new standard in the GT segment for ride and handling. The Emeya features an electronically controlled air suspension system with onboard sensors that adjust the vehicle’s settings 1,000 times per second to ensure a smooth ride.
Lotus has made conscious efforts to reduce the carbon footprint of the Emeya. The vehicle features advanced sustainable materials sourced from repurposed fashion industry fibres, PVD aluminium, Alcantara, Nappa leather, and Ultrafabrics PU.
Emeya will offer an immersive audio system developed in partnership with KEF, promising an unrivalled music experience. The system includes KEF’s Uni-Q speaker design and Uni-Core space-saving subwoofer enclosure, along with Dolby Atmos-enabled 3D surround sound.
Positioned as a blend of emotion and logic, power, and precision, the Emeya bridges the gap between Lotus’ sports car DNA and four-door luxury and comfort.
As a flagship model, Emeya is a crucial part of Lotus’ vision to become a global performance brand by 2028. Production is set to commence in 2024.
Further details about the Emeya, including market availability and pricing, will be released in Q4. Lotus enthusiasts and automotive aficionados alike will be watching closely as this iconic brand takes its electrifying step forward.
