Italian supercar manufacturer Ferrari has opened order books in South Africa for its latest open-top grand tourer, the Ferrari Amalfi Spider — a striking new model that blends high performance with the brand’s signature open-air driving experience.
Local pre-orders are now available through Ferrari’s South African dealer network, although pricing for the Amalfi Spider has yet to be announced for the domestic market.
Design & Open-Top Elegance
Designed by the Ferrari Design Studio under the direction of Flavio Manzoni, the Amalfi Spider showcases the Italian marque’s interpretation of a modern 2+ convertible grand tourer. Its flowing silhouette remains elegant whether the fabric soft top is raised or folded, with sculpted surfaces and clean lines emphasising Ferrari’s balance of performance and visual sophistication.
The lightweight fabric roof, available in four tailored colours and two technical fabric options, can open in just 13.5 seconds at speeds of up to 60km/h, allowing drivers to transition seamlessly from coupé comfort to open-air motoring.
Ferrari has also introduced a new exterior colour for the model, Rosso Tramonto — an exclusive shade inspired by the hues of the Amalfi Coast at sunset. The colour features subtle orange undertones, designed to evoke the warm glow of dusk over the Mediterranean.
A Driver-Focused Interior
Inside, the Amalfi Spider features a dual-cockpit layout that visually separates the driver and passenger, while maintaining a cohesive design language across the cabin. A suspended aluminium bridge forms the centre console, housing key controls, while the minimalist interior emphasises premium materials and craftsmanship.
The car’s digital interface is structured around three displays: a 15.6-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10.25-inch central touchscreen for infotainment and vehicle settings, and an 8.8-inch passenger display that allows the co-driver to monitor performance data such as engine revs and G-forces.
V8 Performance & Engineering
Under the bonnet sits the latest evolution of Ferrari’s award-winning 3.9-litre twin-turbo V8 engine from the F154 family. The powertrain produces 640 horsepower (470kW) at 7 500 rpm, delivering rapid throttle response and a soaring redline of 7 600 rpm.
Power is delivered through an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission, first introduced on the Ferrari SF90 Stradale, and further refined to deliver smoother, faster gear changes.
Aerodynamic Precision
Advanced aerodynamic systems also play a key role in the car’s performance. A rear active wing automatically adjusts between three configurations — low drag, medium downforce, and high downforce — helping the Spider maintain stability at high speeds while generating additional aerodynamic load when required.
With its blend of open-air elegance, technology, and Ferrari’s unmistakable V8 performance, the Amalfi Spider promises to add a new dimension to the brand’s grand touring line-up when it reaches South African roads.
