Chopard marks the reopening of its Paris hotel at 1 Place Vendôme with the exclusive L.U.C XPS 1860 Officer Vendôme One, a limited edition of just eight pieces. This timepiece pays homage to the meticulously restored historic building, reflecting Chopard’s commitment to both tradition and contemporary elegance. The 40mm-diameter watch features a distinctive Bering blue dial, inspired by the blue-hued doorways of Place Vendôme, a colour deeply rooted in French royal heritage.
Crafted in ethical 18-carat gold, the watch combines the artistry of officer-type case-backs with modern precision, showcasing Chopard’s dedication to fine watchmaking. Hidden within the hinged case-back is a hand-engraved Sun motif, a nod to Louis XIV, known as the Sun King, who initiated the creation of Place Vendôme. Adding to its heritage, the L.U.C XPS 1860 Officer Vendôme One also features Chopard’s historic beehive engraving, a signature dating back to the Maison’s founding in 1860 by Louis-Ulysse Chopard.
Originally engraved on the movements and inside the back covers of Chopard watches, the beehive surrounded by bees symbolised industriousness and community. This honeycomb motif now graces the dial and officer-style back cover of this limited edition, seamlessly blending Chopard’s rich past with its innovative present. Powered by the ultra-thin L.U.C Calibre 96.01-L, this watch offers 65 hours of precisioncertified chronometer performance, making it a masterpiece of both aesthetic and mechanical excellence.
