The Nedbank International Polo returned with a new theme, “Africa in Full Colour”, a vibrant homage to the continent’s creative spirit and cultural richness.
Conceived to honour Africa’s bold creative energy through a contemporary race-day lens, “Africa in Full Colour” invited guests to embrace the vibrant palettes that reflect the continent’s diversity.
We sat down with Khensani Nobanda, the Group Executive for Marketing and Corporate Affairs at Nedbank, to reflect on the event’s impact, guest response, and the lasting legacy of this year’s celebration.
YLA: Looking back now that the event has happened, what moment from the day truly captured the spirit of “Africa in Full Colour” for you?
Khensani: I think it was seeing how naturally people embraced the theme in a way that felt authentic to them. From the fashion and creativity on display to the energy and atmosphere across the event, there was a real sense of confidence, individuality, and celebration of African expression.
YLA: How did guests actually respond to the theme on the ground? Did you see people embracing the vibrant palettes and expressive silhouettes the way you’d hoped?
Khensani: Absolutely. What stood out most was how guests interpreted the theme in their own unique ways while still capturing the essence of what we hoped to achieve. There was such a beautiful mix of colour, texture, tailoring, and contemporary African style across the event.
YLA: From a marketing perspective, how do you measure the success of something like this after the fact? Is it about guest feedback, social media buzz, or something more instinctive?
Khensani: For me, it was in the way people embraced the experience so naturally and authentically. You could see it in the fashion, the energy, the conversations, and the overall atmosphere throughout the day. There was a real sense of confidence, creativity, and celebration that felt distinctly African, but also very modern and globally relevant.
YLA: Now that “Africa in Full Colour” has been brought to life, what stays with you?
Khensani: What stays with me is the sense of pride and joy that the event created. There was something very powerful about seeing African creativity and excellence celebrated in such an elevated and contemporary way. It reminded us how important it is to continue creating platforms that allow culture, sport, and connection to intersect meaningfully.
YLA: What is Nedbank’s approach to selecting premium lifestyle platforms that help the brand build deeper, long-term relationships with clients?
Khensani: Nedbank prioritises purpose-led lifestyle platforms because they allow the brand to connect with clients on shared values rather than transactions alone. By choosing platforms rooted in excellence, authenticity, leadership, and positive social impact, Nedbank engages clients in spaces that genuinely matter to them and reflect how they see their own success, influence, and legacy.
