Letsile tebogo’s de beers collab is the ultimate Diamond Legacy Meets Olympic Glory dream

De Beers names Botswana’s gold medallist Letsile Tebogo as its new global ambassador.

@tebogo_letsile_ wears a bespoke bracelet commissioned by De Beers in honour of their partnership, made of natural diamonds from Botswana, which represents his familial roots and pride for his country. Created by award-winning jewellery designer Khumo Makwa, the intertwining links represent Letsile’s late mother, his sister, and himself.

De Beers Group has announced Olympic champion Letsile Tebogo as its new Global Ambassador in a collaboration that celebrates the young sprinter’s meteoric rise and Botswana’s diamond-powered progress. Letsile, who became the nation’s first Olympic gold medallist after his victory in the 200 metres, will front a series of campaigns highlighting the positive impact of natural diamonds in his home country. He was also named World Athletics Male Athlete of the Year 2024.

The partnership is deeply symbolic. De Beers is the world’s leading diamond company and has worked in partnership with the Botswana government for decades, helping transform the nation into one of the world’s leading diamond producers. That same investment has funded educational and sporting infrastructure, laying the foundation for athletes like Letsile to excel.

“My success story is connected with our nation’s diamond heritage,” said Letsile. “The very resources that built our schools and sports facilities have paved the way for young athletes like me. I’m humbled that an organisation like De Beers… sees it fit to play a role in my future too.”

Letsile will headline Talent Unearthed, a short film series showcasing emerging athletic talent in Botswana and the broader role diamonds have played in shaping opportunities. The campaign aims to inspire young athletes and highlight De Beers’ ongoing commitment to community development. “Letsile’s journey from Botswana to Olympic glory mirrors the transformation of natural diamonds,” said Sandrine Conseiller, CEO of De Beers Brands. “Just as diamonds are shaped by pressure and time, Letsile’s story embodies the spirit of Botswana’s progress.”

In addition to the campaign, Letsile and his team will identify new opportunities for sports investment across Botswana. These projects will be rolled out over the coming year, reinforcing De Beers’ mission to utilise natural resources as a force for good.

For Letsile, it’s more than a brand partnership – it’s a shared story of potential realised. And for De Beers, it’s a new chapter in their long-standing commitment to Botswana and its future stars.
