Under the leadership of Jury President Nick Foulkes, the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG) Academy recently celebrated 19 remarkable creations in the cradle of watchmaking, with Breguet receiving the prestigious Aiguille d’Or Grand Prix for the Classique Souscription 2025.

Angelus, Anton Suhanov, Audemars Piguet, Bovet 1822, Bvlgari, Chopard, Daniel Roth, Dennison, Dior Montres, Fam Al Hut, Gérald Genta, Greubel Forsey, L’Épée  1839, M.A.D. Editions, Urban Jürgensen, Voutilainen and Zenith also shone with pieces that redefined craftsmanship and creativity. In total, 90 timepieces were nominated.

The Special Jury Prize went to Alain Dominique Perrin, in recognition of his influential support for exceptional watchmaking.

Prizes and Winners

Aiguille d’Or: Breguet Classique Souscription 2025

“It’s a great honour to win this prize, which symbolises 250 years of watchmaking excellence and is linked to our talented artisans and the people who work every day for this incredible brand.” – Gregory Kissling, CEO of the House of Breguet

Chronometry Prize: Zenith G.F.J. Calibre 135

“Precision is everything when you are in watchmaking. Calibre 135 is the movement that won the most prizes in the ’60s. We have improved it and made it better, and it’s even more precise today than it was then.” – Benoît de Clerck, CEO of Zenith

Sports Watch: Chopard Alpine Eagle 41 SL Cadence 8HF

“This is a watch that I really wanted to make. It’s a bit of an egoistic watch because I wanted to wear it. The name says it all. We also created the Alpine Eagle watch collection to help wildlife in the Alps, and the Alpine Eagle is the symbol of the Foundation which carries the same name.” – Karl-Friedrich Scheufele, Co-president of Chopard

Men’s Complication: Bovet 1822 Récital 30

“Each time you walk from your seat to the stage, the emotion is immense. You realise the award honours the work of your 88 artisans. You may have the ideas and the drive to push watchmaking forward, but in that moment, you see the faces of your family and your team, and you understand that this prize reflects all their effort and ingenuity.

I must say, in human history, daylight saving time has always been a challenge — no traveller or timekeeper was ever perfectly accurate throughout the four seasonal changes. For the first time in watchmaking, you can wear a watch that stays precise all year, winter to summer. It has 373 components, highly complex, yet it sits beautifully on the wrist at 42mm, with a vintage spirit and complete ease of use.

That is the beauty: achieving simplicity from complexity. It matters, because collectors should feel they can enjoy a masterpiece every day without needing a watchmaker at their side.” – Pascal Raffy, President of Bovet 1822

Time Only Watch: Daniel Roth Extra Plat Rose Gold

Ladies’ Complication: Chopard Imperiale Four Seasons

Ladies’ Watch: Gérald Genta Gentissima Oursin Fire Opal

Artistic Crafts: Voutilainen 28GML SOUYOU

Petite Aiguille: M.A.D. Editions M.A.D.2 Green

“When you don’t expect it, it’s that much more extraordinary. I’m really happy for Eric Giroud, who designed the piece. This prize is for him. How do you do something which looks amazing but at a much lower price point? At MB&F, we create pieces which are extraordinary and come with extraordinary prices. We wanted to get a bit of that DNA of craziness, but under CHF 3 000. This particular M.A.D.2 is the story of vinyl, of DJs, of the ’80s, which I lived as a youngster. We brought it into the watch. It’s so much fun when you wear a M.A.D.2; everybody comes to speak to you — it’s moving, it’s emotion, it’s alive, it connects you, it connects people.” – Maximilian Busser, owner and creative director of MB&F and M.A.D. Editions

Challenge Watch: Dennison Natural Stone Tiger Eye Gold

“We are truly delighted that Dennison has won the GPHG Challenge Prize, an incredible recognition arriving just one year after our launch and a testament to the relentless hard work, passion, and dedication our team has poured into this project over the past 12 months.

We are especially proud to share this award with Emmanuel Gueit, whose exceptional design talent played a pivotal role in shaping our inaugural collection and making this first year such an extraordinary success.” – Stephane Cheikh, Dennison’s Managing Director.

Audacity Prize: Fam Al Hut Möbius Mark I

“This is our brand’s first participation in the GPHG, and being nominated was already a tremendous encouragement for us. We did not expect to receive the Audacity Prize. We hope to present to the world a new vision of what Chinese watchmaking can be.” – Dai Xinyan, Founder of Fam Al Hut (post-award interview, edited)

Jewellery Watch: Dior La D de Dior Buisson Couture

Chronograph Watch: Angelus Chronographe Télémètre Yellow Gold

“We are absolutely delighted and would like to thank the jury and the Academy for recognising the beauty and craftsmanship behind this timepiece. This is the perfect way to mark the 100th anniversary of the first Angelus monopusher chronograph. To win the Chronograph Award is the ultimate validation of our brand’s essence and deep-rooted expertise in crafting exceptional timing instruments.” – Pascal Béchu, Managing Director of Angelus

Mechanical Clock: L’Épée 1839 Albatross x MB&F
