A New Way to Breathe Yourself Better

Renowned perfumer Tammy Frazer unveils Daily Inhalables - five conscious fragrances that turn scent into a daily ritual of wellness, calm and clarity.

Tammy Frazer, renowned fragrance formulator and granddaughter of the legendary inventor behind Oil of Olay, is once again redefining the world of scent. This time, she’s doing it through Fraquency, a new wellness-forward fragrance brand launched with creative duo Nadine and Francois De Flamingh.

At the heart of their debut range, Daily Inhalables, is a radical yet deeply human idea: that scent, when crafted naturally and inhaled with intention, can uplift the spirit and reconnect us to the earth.

There are three product categories: an eau de parfum in five signature fragrances, alcohol-free phyto oil blends, and pure beeswax serums for face and skin. This is not perfume as accessory; this is fragrance as daily ritual.

The Inhalables collection feels like a new category in fragrance — part wellness, part ritual. It’s a very new space. The idea of “dosing” throughout the day for essential oil benefits goes hand in hand with creating a ritual station in the heart of your home — a space anyone can engage with, that houses any combination of our products. You can layer the scents; at times you may select a phyto oil, or prefer an atomised scent that lingers on your hair, skin, and clothes.

Intentionally inhaling — taking a moment to centre yourself, collect memories, and ground — becomes a micro-ritual. Each breath draws in a boost of fragrance that quickly enters the bloodstream and pass through the blood-brain barrier, meeting your body where it needs support most.

YLA: How many scents are in the line?

Tammy: We have five fragrances, each honouring the purity of the essential oil selected. They are selected for how they move on the skin, how they make you feel — the blood rush to your cheeks, or simply clear breath work.

The single note scents are Blue Rosemary, grown in the Cederberg mountains, and Palo Santo, which is sourced directly from a sustainable farm in Ecuador.

Then there are three blends: Cederberg is based around a special chemotyped thyme oil, mint, blue rosemary, and geranium — I would say our most universal unisex fragrance. West Coast is a balanced formulation of petitgrain — the green leaves of the orange tree — and Lavandula angustifolia, calming and bright. Dolomite is a lemongrass infusion, herbaceous with a subtle heart of yellow flowers and a smoky-wood finish from Paraguay.

YLA: What kinds of emotional or physical effects are you aiming to unlock?

Tammy: These fragrances make you want to keep coming back for more. There is a body-addictive quality to them — something that your brain doesn’t comprehend, but your body seeks out. I find myself dropping the oil into cupped hands and inhaling throughout the day.

Each of the five fragrances has its own soul. Ultimately, it’s about making you feel good — with fresh, clean scents to ‘breathe yourself better’ throughout the day: better posture, better breathing, better mindset.

“All our fragrances are selected for how they move on the skin, how they make you feel, the blood rush to your cheeks or simply clear breath work.”

YLA: Are there specific rituals or moments in the day you envision people incorporating Inhalables into?

Tammy: I tend to flow with the movement of the day and seek out which oil my body tells me it needs. It’s almost like it bypasses the brain, and the body knows what it needs. The relationship between the products and the body tends to take over.

We have a scent station at the heart of the home — a stand that holds the atomised scents, phyto oils, and our serum. Visitors to our home, whether adults or our children’s friends, are always immediately drawn to it — to put the scents on their skin and inhale.

YLA: How do you ensure the ingredients are sustainably and ethically sourced?

Tammy: I’ve been in the industry for 18 years, and one tends to gravitate to like-minded people who simply love nature. Farmers who are trying a rare distillation may contact me to conduct some testing, and through that process I may identify a new note to formulate with.

There was a special wild basil from a distillery in Franschhoek; a beekeeper who approached me with honey and wax. The beginning of my career was steeped in travel, meeting engineering-minded farmers who distil essential oils. There are co-ops  I know, places I’ve been, and growers I have met personally.

I find it’s the best way to smell an ingredient — travel to the source of the manufacturing and take in the process as part of the knowledge of the fragrance note.

Daily Inhalables will continue to innovate, develop, and formulate new products with our single-minded focus: Is this good for humans? We only manufacture products that are 100 per cent natural, and we have bold plans to create beautiful products for happy humans.
