When Chanel first launched Bleu de Chanel in 2010, it quickly became a statement scent. Its deep, woody-aromatic notes and bold masculine character captured a generation. Now, with Bleu de Chanel L’Exclusif, the House takes this icon into new territory.
Created by Olivier Polge, Chanel’s in-house Perfumer-Creator, L’Exclusif is the most concentrated and complex interpretation of Bleu to date. Richer, deeper, and more magnetic, it is designed not as a reinvention per se, but as the ultimate expression of the fragrance’s DNA.
At the heart of L’Exclusif is the majestic New Caledonian sandalwood, a signature ingredient of Chanel perfumery. Harvested sustainably from an integrated supply chain on the island of Maré, the sandalwood is distilled from the precious heartwood to reveal its creamy, woody depth. Around it, cistus labdanum brings resinous, leathery warmth, adding a mysterious dimension. The result is an amber-woody trail that unfolds with remarkable intensity.
It’s a dense, sophisticated and complex composition, like an extract,” says Olivier. “A concentrate of exceptional raw materials. The most magnetic and mysterious facet of Bleu de Chanel.”
What makes L’Exclusif exceptional is not just its richness, but its intent. It pushes Bleu de Chanel into new territory: from crisp and energetic (as in the original Eau de Toilette), to sensual (in the Eau de Parfum), and now to this full-bodied Parfum. While concentrated, it’s a fragrance that does not announce itself loudly, but rather commands presence through its quiet intensity. On the skin, it lingers with an almost magnetic pull.
As with every Chanel fragrance, L’Exclusif is not just about what’s in the bottle, but how it is made. From sourcing raw materials in ways that honour both environment and community, to the meticulous distillation and blending of essences, Chanel’s perfumery savoir-faire ensures each creation is a total work of art.
Bleu de Chanel L’Exclusif is available in 60ml (R3 805) and 100ml (R5 375) at Chanel Fragrance and Beauty Boutiques.
