The Pot Luck Club, one of Johannesburg’s most popular fine dining destinations, has revealed it will be ending the year with the end of the era at its current Rosebank location. Fortunately for local and travelling foodies, the restaurant will be starting the new year in a brand-new venue nestled in Melrose’s charming The Peech Hotel.
The Pot Luck Club Johannesburg, by restaurateur Luke Dale Roberts, will be serving up its much-loved tapas-style dishes for lunch, dinner and Sunday brunch at its current 199 Oxford Road location in Rosebank until Saturday, 14 December.
The Pot Luck Club at The Peech Hotel will begin accepting bookings from 16 December, with the restaurant officially opening its doors on Tuesday, 28 January 2025.
With Head Chef Ebie du Toit at the helm of day-to-day operations, working alongside Dale Roberts and Pot Luck Club Group Head Chef Jason Kosmas, Jozi diners can look forward to the same much-loved menu of Asian-inspired small plates served in the new stylish restaurant space at The Peech.
Opened exactly 20 years ago in November 2004, multi-award-winning boutique hotel The Peech has evolved into a contemporary Joburg destination over the years. Known for its afro-chic luxury decor and service, the property is spread across thirty-two rooms and suites surrounded by two acres of indigenous gardens.
“I’ve always been a tremendous admirer of Luke’s food, and his approach as a restaurateur and chef,” says James Peech, owner of The Peech Hotel. “Marking twenty years in business was a turning point for our family-run hotel, and we wanted to continue the evolution of what we have to offer both travellers and locals. We’re thrilled to be partnering with Luke in this next chapter of our growth.”
Luke Dale Roberts, who opened The Pot Luck Club Johannesburg in 2023, is also thrilled about the move. “This opportunity came at just the right time, the urban energy of The Pot Luck Club is a perfect fit with The Peech, which is just such a sexy, gorgeous hotel,” he said. “It’s one of my favourite places in Johannesburg and a real hidden secret in Melrose.”
