Riedel, CEO and 11th-generation glassmaker, and orchestrated by Victor Ulrich, Managing Director of Riedel France, the brand convened an illustrious panel of sommeliers, winemakers, and critics in the spiritual home of Chenin Blanc for a pioneering sensory workshop. The mission? To identify the ideal glass shape that unlocks the full spectrum of this noble grape’s delicate aromatics, textural complexity, and extraordinary ageing potential.
Renowned for its chameleonic versatility — from razor-sharp sec to luminous sparkling expressions — Chenin Blanc’s naturally high acidity yields wines of ethereal elegance and crystalline fruit purity. Against this backdrop, nine bespoke Riedel prototypes were subjected to rigorous blind tasting by the Loire’s most revered vignerons.
The verdict? In a revelatory conclusion, the Riedel Veritas Champagne Glass triumphed, its architecture masterfully framing Chenin’s signature vibrancy — amplifying floral top notes, enhancing minerality, and balancing the grape’s characteristic tension between freshness and textural depth.
