A 202-carat unmounted coloured diamond of the same name from South Africa will go under the hammer at Christie’s first live jewellery auction of the year at the Four Seasons Hotel des Bergues in Geneva on May 15 at 3pm. This is the third yellow diamond above 200ct to be offered for sale at auction. The stone features excellent polish and symmetry, medium blue fluorescence and weighs 40.4g. The question for potential bidders is how high will you go?
In May 2022, the fancy intense yellow Red Cross Diamond of 205.07 carats sold in Geneva for $15 599 375 – making that a price per carat of $76 069.
Meanwhile, the 204.36 carats Dancing Sun sold in New York in June 2021 for $4 950 000 – making that a price per carat of $24 222.
In November 1998, the Mouna Diamond mounted by Bulgari was sold in Geneva for $3 237 867. This fancy intense yellow stone is 112.53 carats.
