A White Christmas Reimagined at Melrose Arch

The Chamber Orchestra of Johannesburg and DJ Courtnaé Paul unite for All White Christmas Classics on the Square - a dazzling live performance that promises to bring the spirit of the season to life at Melrose Arch.

This festive season, Melrose Arch presents an evening where tradition meets contemporary flair. Step into a scene of pure enchantment at All White Christmas Classics on the Square, a live concert taking place on Saturday, 15 November. The majestic Chamber Orchestra of Johannesburg, under the baton of conductor Kutlwano Masote, will fill the air with the spirit of the season, while the celebrated DJ Courtnaé Paul provides a modern counterpoint against a backdrop of dazzling Christmas lights.

For Kutlwano, the event represents an exciting evolution. “An all-white classic programme is a different feel for us,” he notes, explaining the ensemble’s approach. “Without changing the essence of what we are doing, we are playing off each other — the orchestra, the DJ, the very ambience of Melrose Arch. We are stepping out of our comfort zones and allowing ourselves to become part of the atmosphere.”

This curated repertoire of cherished festive classics and beloved, well-known hits is designed to be more than a performance; it is an immersive experience. The carefully crafted harmonies are intended not only to evoke the warmth and joy of Christmas but also to reach new audiences —sharing the beauty of orchestral music in a fresh, sophisticated setting that appeals to a new audience.

Tickets are priced at R300 per person and can be purchased online via Melrose Arch. The two-hour performance promises the perfect centrepiece for an evening of elegance in one of the city’s most distinctive destinations.

Nestled among some of Johannesburg’s most-loved restaurants — from Istanbul Kebab and Mr George to Aduna Bistro and Sebule Grill and Cellar — The Square at Melrose Arch offers the ideal backdrop for this debut concert. Guests are encouraged to enjoy dinner at one of the precinct’s renowned establishments before or after the performance.

Presented in collaboration with Greendale House Palliative and Hospice Care, the concert extends Melrose Arch’s commitment to sustainable social impact, supporting initiatives that strengthen families and communities.

The All White Christmas Classics show forms part of Melrose Arch’s festive programme, themed “Magical moments await.” The precinct will come alive with seasonal energy — from twinkling lights to carefully curated performances. The festivities continue with the Drakensberg Boys Choir performing carols on 16 November, and the Jeppe Pipe Band on 5 December.

With its unique blend of sophistication and festive cheer, Melrose Arch cements its status as one of Johannesburg’s leading destinations for world-class experiences in Johannesburg.
