Selected because of the elegance it conveys, ‘Jolie Madame’ was the name chosen by Pierre Balmain for a collection he put together in the 1950s. Since then, it’s been a flagship reference of the house that’s been used for the well-known “Jolie Madame” perfume that was launched in 1952. More recently, it became the name of the most iconic jacket designed by Olivier Rousteing.
Combining Balmain’s heritage with the modern, innovative vision of its Artistic Director, the new Jolie Madame bag continues this legacy. The Jolie Madame bag is both futuristic and timeless. The contrasted colours and materials highlight its unexpected design, making it ideal for both city or evening wear.
“Jolie Madame refers to the house’s legendary mid-century silhouette,” says Rousteing. “What I like most about this new luxury bag’s silhouette is that it reflects both the audaciousness of Monsieur Balmain’s fresh and feminine postwar collections and the drive for incorporating surprising innovations that’s helping to set apart today’s Balmain.”
The bag comes in a variety of colours with black and white serving as a tribute to the House’s Heritage. The Jolie Madame bag also comes in a small version from the Fall 2024 Collection. It’s a sartorial creation with an iconic history and legendary future, notes Rousteing.
“Those who know the brand well will not be surprised to hear that my team and I have channeled the same inventive spirit of our most recent runways as well as our latest sneaker designs when we crafted this futuristic design, as we continued to meld together surprising shapes and materials (including rubber) with the finest in Parisian couture craftsmanship and traditions.”
