Non-Invasive Beauty Is Booming – This Skin-Lifting Treatment Is Leading the Way

Want to look fresh, not fake? BTL Exilis lifts, firms and restores your natural glow with no downtime.

The trend is clear: more and more people are seeking ways to look healthier, fresher, and younger – without surgery, needles or downtime. Less invasive and more natural-looking procedures are gaining popularity for their focus on enhancing natural beauty rather than drastic transformations, while the little to no recovery period allows patients to resume daily activities almost immediately. The non-invasive nature of these procedures reduces the risks associated with surgical complications such as infections, scarring and prolonged discomfort. Add to that the rapid development of aesthetic technologies and practitioners can offer a wider range of procedures that deliver consistent, natural-looking outcomes with minimal risk.

One of the treatments I recently discovered that speaks directly to this trend is BTL Exilis, designed to lift, tighten and rejuvenate the skin naturally. Curious to see the results, I experienced it firsthand at Nix and Tee Aesthetics, a wellness and aesthetics clinic in Sandhurst, Johannesburg, founded by two passionate professionals, Nicolette Wepener and Turid Stacey.

What Is BTL Exilis?

The BTL Exilis is a non-invasive treatment that combines radiofrequency (RF) and ultrasound technology to tighten skin, reduce fine lines and stimulate deep collagen production. It is completely painless and designed for those who want visible rejuvenation without surgery or needles. The Exilis device uses controlled heating to deliver energy safely and comfortably to different depths in the tissue. This process stimulates collagen and elastin production, resulting in firmer, smoother and more youthful-looking skin. It can be used on both the face and body, but for my treatment, we focused on lifting and tightening the face and neck area.

The Treatment

After a consultation, Tee explained the treatment in detail. She assessed my skin’s condition and customised the settings on the Exilis device to suit my needs. After applying gel to the skin (be warned, a lot of gel is needed so it can be a bit messy around the hairline), Tee gently worked the handheld device across my cheeks, jawline and forehead in slow, methodical movements. The treatment itself felt like a warm, soothing massage, and the heat was pleasantly warm, never uncomfortable. After each treatment, there was an immediate effect – skin looked plumper and lifted, with a healthy, post-spa glow thanks to the heat. There was no redness, no tenderness and best of all, I could go straight back to my normal routine – as soon as Tee helped clean the gel off my face!

While I noticed an immediate improvement in the texture and tone of my skin after just one session, Tee explained that for optimal, long-lasting results, a course of four to eight treatments spaced about a week apart is ideal. “This cumulative approach allows the collagen remodelling process to kick in more deeply over time, delivering results that build progressively. After the full course, clients can expect lifted contours, softened fine lines, and an overall more youthful, refreshed appearance – all without the risks associated with more invasive procedures,” she explained.

And that is exactly what happened after my four treatments. The lines running from my nose to my mouth (nasolabial) were not so marked, the skin on my neck looked smoother, and my overall skin tone looked healthier. It was me – just fresher.

If you’re looking for a way to lift, tighten and rejuvenate your face without needles, downtime, or discomfort, this is definitely worth a try.
